Greetings from Cincinatti, OH. me and my mom just got done with two games. Well, i got done coaching...she got done picking fights with the other teams parents. just like old time. apparently the other teams parents were mad because they called a goal back. it went out of bounds, bent back in, and went in the goal. to all you non-soccer players...that equals not a goal. but it was a big deal to the parents. my mom calmy explained (After the ref did as well) that it means that the ball was out of bounds first. the dad points his finger at my mom and says:
"IF this ends in a 1-1 tie..."
"...what? your kid won't go to college, you'll lose your house, and won't be able to buy groceries? it's a 12 year olds soccer game, get over it."
to which his very witty reply to my mom was:
"YOU get over it."
ohhhh soccer parents. i hate them.
anyways, we lost both our games today. bummer. but we played very well the second game. i think my girls were more excited to go to the indoor waterpark our hotel has. and who wouldn't be? plus, it FRICKING freezing standing out there yelling at my girls to "MARK UP!"
i had some aches in my heart seeing all the girls running around and playing. i mean, soccer tournaments were my life from age 12-18. last time i was with my mom at a hotel, we were playing my last tournament in portage, MI and i had a pulled hamstring, since it was my last tournament, i played anyways. now, if you've never had a pulled hamstring, it's horribly painful. you are very restricted in movement. poor me was put up at forward since i would do less damage up there. me being a defender my whole life...well, i was lost. but i limped and gimped my way into scoring a goal. and thats how i got nicknamed Llama, because of the way i was running my coach yelled out, "c'mon LLAMA!" memories.
now i'm being put up in fancy hotels and bundling up in as much zionsville gear as possible to stand on the sidelines and attempt to coach my girls to victory. not so much this weekend, but their having a good time. lord knows i dont want to be the person to make them hate soccer.
good thing i love hanging out with my mom. we're going out to dinner at olive garden and then probably hanging out tonight. as for right now, i'm gonna take a nap. i was up at 630 this morning. vomit.
Siiiiigh, it's monday.
The good news is that things are changing here at Russell LLC. which might make it bearable until i can find a new job. Or until I get my internship for the summer. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let that happen.
My editor just moved into my office with me, and we've been girl talking about guys. She just got into a relationship and she asked me if i was dating anyone.
"In real life, or in my head?"
In my head i'm married to Landon Donovan, seriously dating John Krasinski, and having a fling with Zac Efron on the side. wow, slutty even in my own imagination.
I deemed myself a while ago not emotionally mature enough to be in a serious relationship. I still want to run around with my friends (when i have the time), and i want to be able to pick up my life and move should i have the chance to advance my career. I never though i would be the girl to throw herself into her career over being in love, but that path looks very appealing right now. I don't have time, and I'm just not ready. Sure, I have crushes and shared smiles with guys at bars or in school....but nothing makes my heart flip more than the thought of chasing my dreams across the country should i get the opportunity.
This weekend was wonderful. I spent it with my mom, who took me shopping and we went to get dinner at STIR CRAZY which is amazing chinese food. We saw leatherheads which was just a fantastic movie. Really loved the old time feel too it, and the quick dialogue and slapstick elements along with that amazing soundtrack really made it enjoyable. and of course, john was flawless in it. oh, and george clooney was his same old sexy self. GO SEE IT!
A long week ahead, school, work and practices. Then its off to Ohio for my first big tournament with my girls. I'm not sure how the competition will be, but wish us luck!
There is a banner on the side of this page as im writing this about ALL NEW NBC THURSDAYS. you know you're definitely not in college anymore when you're more excited for that than for what used to be "thirsty thursdays" and usually the biggest drinking night of the week.
Things to get excited about:
- little 5 weekend with my best friends and playing some real soccer in the alumni game
- new episodes of the office and how i met your mother
- great movies coming out soon (indiana jones, sex and the city)
- disney trip for my sisters 30th birthday
- punta cana for a week with meggy
- life in general.
"If you've been thinking about seeking success in the field of publishing, dear Leo, this is the time to go for it. It's also a great day to enroll in law school, a masters program or any field of higher education. Love with someone from far away could well be in the offing. At the very least, you could make a new friend from a distant state or foreign land. This should be a very satisfying day for you. Enjoy it."
Is msn.com horscope inside my head????? GET OUT, MAN!
I'm in the field of publishing, yes. I'm already in a masters program, but screw it, lets go to law school. and as for a love from someone from far away, please PLEASE let it be John Krasinski. great, thanks. i will ENJOY that, good sir.
maybe on april 30th my horoscope will say "You're getting a call about that internship today. You're a finalist. Enjoy it." THAT would be awesome. also kind of creepy.
OfficeTally and YouTube has John Krasinski's interview on Conan from last night. Watch it before NBC takes it down! He was, as always, amazing.
If you haven't seen Hot Fuzz yet, what is the matter with you, dude?
Looking forward to a nice weekend with friends and my mom.
