The finalists for the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundation Student Internship Program for summer 2008 have been selected. Unfortunately, you were not chosen for this year's program. The judges, who are all members of the Academy and work in the area in which you submitted, carefully reviewed your entry materials. As the number of submissions continues to grow each year, the competition was, as always, very tough. Not being chosen as a finalist should not discourage you. This is an extremely competitive industry and it is important that you continue to work toward your goals.
Siiiiiiiiiiiiigh. Offff course. I'm not sure why,but a small part of me really thought i had a chance. i chose not to smother that little voice in my head. it felt good to believe for awhile. oh well. next year.
also, people disappoint me. another broken promise, another reason to move on. thank you.
This summer i want to crank out a couple of spec scripts. One for How I Met your Mother, and and original one. And katie from class says her friend is starting a publishing company and wants some writers. I guess I should really put a dent in my collection of short stories.
Grad school is done for the summer, yet why do i feel like i have no time still. oh that's because i keep taking on activities that i dont really have the time for. like coaching a high school team. while working full time. and getting my masters. and coaching a u12 team. what...is....the matter with me? i don't have the answers.
maybe if i'm so busy i dont have time to stop and think about the disappointments.
last nights episode of the Office...priceless. Of course i had a soccer game at the same time so i watched it at work this morning. they get better and better. SEASON FINALE NEXT WEEK! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

"Well, here are your options: You can sell it for parts, drive it off a cliff, you can donate it to a person who you'd like to see die in a car crash, or you can sell it to me and I'll use it as I would a wagon on my farm. It will be towed by a donkey."-Dwight
"Alright everybody-- [noticing Pam's glasses] Oh. My. God. Pam. Those make you look so ugly. Uhh, Pam in order to get hotter you take the glasses off. You're moving in the wrong direction."-Michael

Remember in grade school when teachers got on your case about READING directions? i was looking at the internship page and just saw THIS sentence:
"Television Academy Foundation internships are designed to give qualified full-time students (undergraduate and graduate) pursuing degrees at colleges and universities in the United States..."
kids, i am a part time student. with a full time job. it's official, i must quit my job.
like i ever needed a reason to do it before.
a part of me hopes they'll consider me anyways. but not likely. DAMNIT. i was so excited i didnt read ALL the directions. well, there ya go.
doesn't mean i can't write. or will stop writing. i'm thinking about creating my own TV pilot and sending it to script agencies. i have the complete list of them and all the HOW TO books. i am READY to go.

"If you've been thinking about seeking success in the field of publishing, dear Leo, this is the time to go for it. It's also a great day to enroll in law school, a masters program or any field of higher education. Love with someone from far away could well be in the offing. At the very least, you could make a new friend from a distant state or foreign land. This should be a very satisfying day for you. Enjoy it."
Is msn.com horscope inside my head????? GET OUT, MAN!
I'm in the field of publishing, yes. I'm already in a masters program, but screw it, lets go to law school. and as for a love from someone from far away, please PLEASE let it be John Krasinski. great, thanks. i will ENJOY that, good sir.
maybe on april 30th my horoscope will say "You're getting a call about that internship today. You're a finalist. Enjoy it." THAT would be awesome. also kind of creepy.
OfficeTally and YouTube has John Krasinski's interview on Conan from last night. Watch it before NBC takes it down! He was, as always, amazing.
If you haven't seen Hot Fuzz yet, what is the matter with you, dude?
Looking forward to a nice weekend with friends and my mom.
I woke up with a migraine. I get them a couple times a month. The right side of my head just catches fire and my eye throbs. it's painful. one time my junior year, it was so bad katie took me to the walk in clinic and the doc. had to knock me out with a shot in the leg. it was awesome. i wish they just packaged those and i could jab myself in the leg whenever i got a migraine.
anyways, i woke up with one. and i thought, "this is not gonna be a good day."
and i was right.
i got an email that told me i did NOT get the job. it was between me and one other person, and it went to the other girl because she had more experience. i was real excited for this job, since i would be using my creative talent. annnnd i aced the copywriter test. and i had great interviews. so when i found out i didnt get i crashed. and then i realized i still work here.
before i went to bed last night i thought...if i dont get this job, maybe it means I'll be hearing from the internship committee at the end of this month. then i'll be in hollywood, doing what i love. writing.
i was talking to our art director doug about writing an article about our circulation manager as a joke between me and her. i told him i did it in like 20 minutes and how much fun it was, compared to the 3 hours it takes me to put together an enewsletter which i loathe. and he told me:
"it's funny what you can get done when it's something you love."
my mommy is coming this weekend. she'll take care of me. clothes, food. movies.
LEATHERHEADS COMES OUT TOMORROW! GO SEE IT!
